Read ePub Format Books in Your Browsers

I don’t know how many of you still read books, but as far as I know the numbers are decreasing. But eBook reading devices such as Kindle, and to some extend iPad, are making some people to read. I normally use my desktop to read books – they are mostly tech documents.

If you try to read a ePub book in your web browser, it does not open natively. All it does is, download the book. Then you have to open the ePub book in a reader app. Don’t you think it is too much trouble?

How to open ePub Books in Web Browser?

If browsers opened ePub books like how they open PDF, then reading books would be more fun and less trouble. Yes, like always, I have few extension and Add-Ons that let you to read ePub books within the browser itself.

EPUBReader

This Firefox Extension allows you to read any epub file within the browser itself. The extension downloads the epub file, processes it, and displays in perfect readable format. If you have saved epub file in your computer, you can also open that using Firefox’s Open File dialogue. Since it is a Firefox extension, you can use it on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. MagicScroll eBook Reader

This Chrome Extension reads ePub books, and displays in minimalist fashion. It supports a unique scrolling feature which is not available in any other ebook reader. You can read ebooks from various online libraries such as Project Gutenberg. Like EPUBReader, even this app supports full offline access to your saved epub files. Readium

This is another Chrome Extension to read ePub files. The developers call it a beta release, so it might crash while you read your e-books, so proceed with caution. Click here to Install Readium.

Did I say that the above extension are free to download? However, you might have to pay to buy premium books.
